Mainland Research Institutes
The institutes of research and innovation established by HKU in Shenzhen and Zhejiang represent an integral part and an extension into the Chinese Mainland of the University’s research. They will also play an important role in transferring technology and innovations from HKU to the Mainland.
HKU-Shenzhen Institute of Research and Innovation (HKU-SIRI)
The HKU-Shenzhen Institute of Research and Innovation (HKU-SIRI), incorporated in March 2011, aims to promote hi-tech R&D, knowledge transfer and industry incubation.
SIRI members are eligible to apply for a number of Mainland research grants, including National Natural Science Fund and National Key Research and Development Programme projects. Support is provided for eligible members in the application for and administration of such projects by the HKU Mainland Research Projects Office.
HKU-Zhejiang Institute of Research and Innovation (HKU-ZIRI)
The HKU-Zhejiang Institute of Research and Innovation (HKU-ZIRI) was established in December 2012. The first three laboratories, led by the Faculty of Engineering, are specialising in Aerodynamics and Acoustics, Nanofluids and Thermal Engineering, and Physical Internet.
