The Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) presents the Academy for Leadership in Teacher Education (ALiTE) International Webinar Series for Exemplary Scholarship on “Teacher Education in Post-pandemic Times: The Singaporean Experience” to be delivered by Professor Low Ee Ling, Dean, Teacher Education, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in May 2021.
COVID-19 has changed the way we live, work and learn overnight and forever. As the world moved into lockdown and populations around the world were confined to our homes, digital and virtual platforms for teaching and learning remained the mainstay of continuing our efforts at education. This lecture will highlight issues we have to confront in re-designing teacher education in order to ensure that our learners not just survive but thrive in the face of a new and uncertain normal. This involves learners being able to solve complex and unprecedented problems from a multidisciplinary lens. Teachers must be prepared to nurture learners who can rise up to these new and unpredictable challenges ahead.
