"When Women Lead" delivered by The Right Honorable Kim Campbell, Former Prime Minister of Canada (English only)

The Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of Hong Kong together with the Shantou University and the China Youth University for Political Sciences will present a public lecture entitled "When Women Lead" on December 8, 2006 (Friday).

The video conferencing lecture will be delivered live from Shantou University to The University of Hong Kong and China Youth University for Political Sciences in Beijing. This lecture forms part of the Shantou Dialogues to take place at Shantou University from December 8 to 10, 2006. Shantou Dialouges is the first of a projected annual event which bring together think tanks from around the world to share knowledge and experiences on global issues. The themes for this year are Creativity, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. This lecture is being sponsored by Li Ka Shing Foundation.

Biography of The Right Honorable Kim Campbell, Former Prime Minister of Canada

The Right Honourable Kim Campbell was the nineteenth Prime Minister of Canada from 25 June to 4 November 1993. She was the first woman to serve as a head of government in North America and the second woman in history to sit at the table of the Group of Seven leaders, after British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Ms Campbell played an active role in international women's organizations. During 1999 to 2003, she chaired the Council of Women World Leader (CWWL). Its membership consists of women who hold or have held the office of President or Prime Minister. From 2003 until 2005 she served as President of the International Women's Forum, a global organization of women of preeminent achievement.
