港大「關社100」啓動
五百小學生「向港大出發」，同慶大學百周年
超過五百位就讀小四至小六的同學，將於明天（3月12日）「向港大出發」，在香港大學（港大）校園一嘗做大學生的滋味，與大學同慶一百周年。同學們來自不同背景，包括基層家庭及少數族裔的兒童。活動分早午兩批進行，他們會在陸佑堂參加迷你高桌宴，聆聼港大首席副校長錢大康教授講課，了解「互聯網的歷史」，並在校慶大蛋糕前合照。其他的活動包括由港大學生和校友組成的義工隊帶領同學遊覽校園，在孫中山先生銅像荷花池畔講故事，參觀許士芬地質博物館，及主持導修課，跟同學討論各樣議題﹑玩遊戲，介紹大學的生活。

An Evening of Poetry in Hong Kong: Presenting Kit Fan, Winner of the International HKU Poetry Prize 2010
The HKU School of English is pleased to announce that Kit Fan has been selected as the winner of the 2010 HKU Poetry Prize for his manuscript "Paper Scissors Stone". The Prize Presentation will take place on March 15, 2011, at HKU, in a ceremony organized in conjunction with The Hong Kong International Literary Festival 2011. Kit Fan will be joined by renowned poets Louise Ho and Leung Ping-kwan for an evening of conversations and poetry readings. Born and educated in Hong Kong, Kit Fan now lives in York. His poems are widely published in UK literary magazines such as "Poetry Review", "Poetry London", "Poetry Wales", and "The London Magazine" and he won a "Times" Stephen Spender Prize for Translation in 2006. Kit Fan's book of poems, "Paper Scissors Stone", will be released in March 2011.

香江永綠‧百善永續 (第三期展覽) 新聞發佈會及公開展覽
The third phase of the project is themed "100-year sustainable development plan for HKSAR". Visitors are invited to a miniature tour on maps outlining the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD), and the Central HK Harbour Front Region, connected by a proposed shuttle Automated People Mover (APM) train tunnel to be constructed under the harbour. Exhibits include models on the proposed underground multi-functional HUBS development of WKCD and the Central HK Harbour Front Region, and a APM train tunnel, proposed in line with the APM train used inside the HK International Airport. A physical model of the city centre of HKSAR, and selected graphics and images, developed in line with the theme of the project will also be exhibited.

「百周年傑出學人講座」：2002年諾貝爾化學獎得主庫爾特.維特里希教授(Professor Kurt Wüthrich)主講「蛋白質世界與日常生活」
The determination of the human genome and the genomes of a large number of other species carry great promise with regard to improving the quality of life worldwide. New advances are expected in many different fields, including agriculture, nutrition and healthcare. However, realization of these advances will have to be based on detailed knowledge of the proteome and other gene products of the organisms of interest, in addition to the genomic DNA sequences. Professor Wüthrich's research team is specialized in the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for studies of the molecular structure of proteins, which is a well-established basis for rational, structure-based drug design. Currently they use NMR alongside with protein crystal structure determination in the recently developed field of structural genomics. This lecture will present strategic aspects and selected results of the exploration of the protein universe with these techniques.
