The International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently released its 2011 Staff Report on China, along with a new "Spillover Report" that analyzes the effects of China's economic policies on the rest of the world. Mr. Il Houng Lee was closely involved in the IMF consultation with the Chinese authorities and the production of the two reports. In this seminar, he will discuss the main findings, covering both near-term developments and medium-run challenges. His presentation will be followed by some time for Q&A.
Mr. Il Houng Lee is the IMF's Senior Resident Representative in China. He has been with the IMF since 1989, gathering extensive experience on a range of assignments, including Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. He was the IMF's Senior Resident Representative in Vietnam during August 2005 - September 2007. Before moving to Beijing to take on his current post in 2010, he was an Advisor in the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department working as the mission chief on the Philippines. Mr. Lee has a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, an MA in Economics from University of Essex, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Warwick University.
