Campus-related Confirmed Case (13 August 2020)
On 13 August 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning an HKU staff. The confirmed case is tested positive of COVID-19 on 13 August. The staff member last worked at the Flora Ho Sports Centre on 7 August and had been wearing a face mask at all times. The staff member concerned had no close contacts with other staff members or students, and had not been to the HKU campus again since then. Additional cleaning and disinfection will be carried out in the affected areas.

Close Contact with Confirmed Case (27 July 2020)
On 27 July 2020, we were informed that one staff member from the Faculty of Social Sciences had been in close contact with a non-HKU person who is a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection. The HKU staff member lives with the confirmed case. The staff went to work on campus on 22 July and had contact with another staff member at the Faculty office. The staff had shown no symptoms of COVID-19 so far. The staff will be sent to a quarantine site by the CHP in the coming days.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (24 July 2020)
Updated: Both the student from the University Hall and the student’s roommate have been confirmed with COVID-19 infection. All other students from the same hall have been tested negative of COVID-19 so far. (Last updated on July 27, 2020, 3pm)

On 24 July 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning an HKU student who is a resident at the University Hall. The confirmed case developed symptoms on 22 July and is tested positive of COVID-19 on 24 July. Apart from staying in the Hall, he had not been to other parts of the HKU campus for the past 14 days. We are following up with students that the confirmed case had been in contact with to provide advice. Additional cleaning and disinfection have been arranged in the affected areas. Campus-related Confirmed Case (24 July 2020)
On 24 July 2020, we were informed by the Prince Philip Dental Hospital, which houses the HKU Faculty of Dentistry, that one of their outsourced staff member had been confirmed with COVID-19 infection. All students and staff members of the Faculty left the building after completing the day’s consultation, in order to facilitate enhanced cleaning of the premises.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (23 July 2020)
On 23 July 2020, we were informed that a staff member of HKU Space who was diagnosed with COVID-19 today visited the University Health Service (UHS) recently. The confirmed case visited the medical clinic of the UHS at around 8:45am on 16 July 2020. As a standard precautionary measure at UHS, he wore a face mask during his visit and only stayed for a short while. All staff members in the UHS were in appropriate protective gear. Apart from UHS, the confirmed case had not been to other parts of the HKU campus recently.

Close Contact with Confirmed Case (16 July 2020)
On 16 July 2020, we were informed that one staff from the Safety Office had been in close contact with a non-HKU person who is a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection.
The HKU staff had a meal together with the confirmed case on 12 July.
The HKU staff went to work on campus from 13 to 15 July and had brief contacts with ten other staff in the Safety Office. We have requested the staff concerned and the ten colleagues not to come to work from 17 July onwards until further notice.
The staff member concerned is waiting for further instructions from CHP on testing and possible quarantine.
Additional cleaning and disinfection have been arranged at the workplace of the staff and other affected areas.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (15 July 2020)
On 15 July 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning an HKU student. The confirmed case developed symptoms on 14 July and is tested positive of COVID-19 on 15 July. The confirmed case joined a sports training on campus on 3 July, and had not returned to campus again since. We are contacting students that the confirmed case had been in contact with to provide advice. Additional cleaning and disinfection have been arranged in the affected areas.

Close Contact with Confirmed Case (11 July 2020)
On 11 July 2020, we were informed that two staff from the Estates Office had been in close contact with a non-HKU person who is a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection.
The two HKU staff had lunch with the confirmed case on 6 July, who was tested positive on 10 July 2020. The two HKU staff are tested for COVID-19 on 11 July 2020, results are pending.
The two staff will be placed under compulsory quarantine at a Government quarantine centre until 20 July 2020.
Additional cleaning and disinfection will be arranged at the workplace of the two staff.

On 8 April 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning an HKU student. The student returned from overseas on 31 March, tested positive for COVID-19 and was immediately hospitalised. The student had not been to campus since returning to Hong Kong.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (2 April 2020)
On 2 April 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning an HKU student. The student was tested positive for COVID-19 upon returning from overseas and was immediately hospitalised. The student had not been to campus since returning to Hong Kong.

On 30 March 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning an HKU student.
The student returned from overseas on 26 March and being under compulsory quarantine had not returned to the campus nor had any contact with any HKU member since.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (29 March 2020)
On 29 March 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning a tenant (non-HKU member) residing at Felix Villas.
The confirmed case returned from overseas recently and was tested positive for COVID-19. The person was sent to hospital on 29 March 2020.
Additional cleaning and disinfection have been arranged at the affected areas.

On 28 March 2020, we were informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning a tenant (non-HKU member) residing at High West.
The confirmed case returned from overseas recently and was sent to hospital on 26 March 2020, who was tested positive for COVID-19 on 27 March, 2020.
Additional cleaning and disinfection have been arranged at the affected areas.
All outdoor facilities of Quarters have been closed following the government’s latest social distancing policy announced on 27 March.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (12 March 2020)
On 12 March 2020, we were informed by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning a spouse of an HKU teaching staff member who had visited the medical clinic of the University Health Service recently.
The confirmed case visited the medical clinic of the University Health Service (UHS) in the morning of 11 March, 2020. As a standard precautionary measure at UHS, he wore a face mask, was asked to use alcohol hand rub and had his temperature taken before he entered the clinic. He was triaged to a designated area and was immediately examined by an assigned physician. All staff members who were in close proximity to him were in appropriate protective gear.
Three HKU teaching staff from the Faculty of Arts including the wife of the confirmed case are classified as close contacts and have gone to the government’s quarantine centre as standard measure. They are all asymptomatic.
The University has maintained ongoing communications with the colleagues to provide necessary assistance and to collect further details for follow-up support if needed.
Additional cleaning and disinfection have been arranged at UHS, Meng Wah Complex and the Run Run Shaw Tower at the Centennial Campus as extra precautionary measures.
The University will continue monitoring the situation and provide further details as appropriate. Please continue to stay vigilant, exercise good hand hygiene and seek medical attention if you feel unwell.

Campus-related Confirmed Case (6 March 2020)
On 6 March 2020, we were informed by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection concerning a retired HKU staff member who had visited the medical clinic of the University Health Service recently.
The retired staff member visited the medical clinic of the University Health Service (UHS) in the morning of 29 February, 2020. As a standard precautionary measure at UHS, he wore a face mask, was asked to use alcohol hand rub and had his temperature taken before he entered the clinic. He was triaged to a designated zone and spent a total of around 10 minutes in the clinic. No other patients were nearby at that time. All staff members who were in contact with him were in appropriate protective gear.
After understanding the situation, CHP has not required the University to undertake any other follow-up measures.
In recent months, both the University campus and UHS have enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures according to CHP guidelines.
