Li Chunyun's talent in music making is not limited to his brilliant technique, but enhanced by the natural musicality and warm Bohemian temperament that are infused with the lush tone produced in his performances. Although we can talk as much as we want on the many awards he has won, or his adventures in film production, perhaps it would be most interesting for all of us to get to know Li as a young adult, and to experience his spontaneous music making first-hand. Besides sharing his musical experiences with us, we are happy to have Chuanyun perform for us in the two sessions as if he is playing for his best friends. Details of the performances as follows:

To add more local flavour to this enchanting musical journey, we have also asked Li to perform with a few very special locally crafted violins during the Tuesday (March 30th) session. These instruments are masterpieces of Mr. Cheng Chik-Pui (鄭直沛) and his late brother Mr. Cheng Chik-Wun(鄭直煥). The two brothers set out to make some of the best violins ever produced in Hong Kong in the 1950s when good instruments were not as affordable as they are today. A friend of HKU's former Vice-Chancellor Professor Rayson Huang, Mr. Cheng Chik-Pui was responsible for repairing and restoring Professor Huang's many violins.
Members of the press are cordially invited to attend the both performances and the meet-the-press session on Tuesday (March 30th) after the performance. Details as follows:

The University Museum and Art Gallery (香港大學美術博物館) is to welcome music maker Li Chuanyun during his visit to the University of Hong Kong. The event is made possible by the generous support of the Robert H.N. Ho (何鴻毅) Foundation.
