HKU announces final swab test results for Haking Wong Building
14 Jan 2014
The University of Hong Kong announced today (January 14) the latest swab test results for the Haking Wong Building and that no asbestos has been found in any of the samples. This is the final test in a series conducted since January 7 (Tuesday).
The building was temporarily closed on January 7 (Tuesday) after asbestos-containing debris was found in several maintenance rooms during a regular survey. It was opened again on January 9 (Thursday), following test results of airborne asbestos fibre level of air taken from the building which suggested that the building was safe for normal occupation. Further swab tests taken by a consultant for any traces of contamination on obscure and hidden surfaces have found no asbestos in any of the samples.
