“The WAY I•CARE!” University Community Engagement Symposium cum Project Exhibition to enhance knowledge exchange and mobilize community resources

"The WAY I•CARE! University Community Engagement Symposium cum Project Exhibition" will be held on February 10, 2015 (Tuesday) at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, HKSAR Government, and Mr. Peter Cheng, Chairman of Chow Tai Fook Charity Foundation (CTFCF) will be the Guests of Honour at the opening ceremony while Professor Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Professor Peter Mathieson, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) will preside over the ceremony. Plenary sessions with topics on community engagement, social entrepreneurship, youth and sustainability will be scheduled after the opening ceremony. Representatives from the two universities will share and showcase their local community projects supported by CTFCF in the afternoon.
With generous support from CTFCF, CUHK and HKU have initiated the "I•CARE Programme" (Local Poverty Alleviation Initiative) and "We Are With You Project" respectively to help the community to accumulate social capital and mobilize resource exchange through social networking, knowledge exchange, direct services, research, social enterprises incubation and various community engagement activities. The Symposium provides a platform for students, faculties and community partners to share their strategies, challenges and success on university-community engagement, as well as to exchange ideas and resources to develop new projects. At the Symposium, local projects from both universities supported by CTFCF will be showcased.
