HKU Faculty of Education to hold seminar on "What Is Mathematics For?"

The Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong will conduct a seminar entitled “What Is Mathematics For?” on February 6 (Friday). In the talk, Professor Frederick Leung will share his opinions on a number of questions related to learning Mathematics including:
- What is Mathematics?
- Why learning Mathematics?
- Is it that only those talented can learn Mathematics well?
- How to learn Mathematics well?
- How Mathematics relates to daily life?
Audience will be inspired to have a further thinking and understanding of the relationship amongst mathematics, learning and daily life. The seminar is one of the activities to mark the Faculty’s Pearl Jubilee Celebrations. Details are as follows:
