HKU Centre for Chinese Law to hold conference on
“25 Years of the Hong Kong Basic Law: Retrospects and Prospects”

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the promulgation of the Hong Kong Basic Law, the Centre for Chinese Law of the Faculty of Law is co-organising a conference on “25 Years of the Hong Kong Basic Law: Retrospects and Prospects” and the book launch for “Perspectives of the Hong Kong Basic Law”. The other co-organising institutions are Joint Publishing (H.K) Ltd, the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies, and the Shenzhen University Research Centre for the Basic Laws of Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions.
HKU Law Professor Albert Chen and Professor Zou Pingxue of Shenzhen University are the co-editors of the book “Perspectives of the Hong Kong Basic Law”, which analyses the principles and structure of the Basic Law and explores various important constitutional issues.
Fourteen speakers from Mainland China and Hong Kong will be attending the conference. They include:
- Professor Lau Siu-kai, Vice-chairman, Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies
- Professor Wang Zhenmin, Dean, Tsinghua University Law School
- Professor Rao Geping, Professor, Peking University Law School
- Professor Albert Chen Hung-yee, Professor, Faculty of Law, the University of Hong Kong
