HKU presents Public Lecture on ‘Open Innovation and Public-Private Partnerships’

Around the world, developed economies have recognised that R&D and Innovation are imperative for competitiveness, especially in light of global trends such as urbanization, ubiquitous digitization, ageing and resource scarcity.The University of Hong Kong has invited Professor Raj Thampuran, Managing Director, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, to give a public lecture entitled “Open Innovation and Public-Private Partnerships”. This talk will discuss the role and importance of R&D and innovation for Singapore’s economic transformation and growth. It will discuss A*STAR’s role in Singapore’s innovation system, as the primary mission-oriented government agency tasked with advancing innovation-based growth. The talk will emphasise the importance of Open Innovation in today’s age, and elaborate on the different modalities of public-private partnerships that A*STAR engages in, targeting outcomes such as good jobs.
