10 Dec 2016
The 5th Cross-Border Elderly Care Seminar was held at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) on December 9, 2016 (Friday). Riding on the achievements of the past four seminars, the HKU Sau Po Centre on Ageing, together with other institutions including the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Helping Hand, the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation, Hong Kong Association of Gerontology, and Lingnan University, jointly held the seminar. Over 100 participants from the elderly service sector and stakeholders attended the seminar. With a focus on the theme of ‘Cross-Border Elderly Care in the Technology Era’, the speakers discussed the opportunities and challenges the cross-border elderly care services faced in the technology era, and explored the potential of expanding options for older people in choosing and utilising services that meet their needs through the application of information technology. Meanwhile, the speakers expressed the hope that the Hong Kong government would consider more policy support for cross-border elderly services offered in neighbouring cities so that the older people can benefit as soon as possible.
