HKU Marathon Team wins the Most Supporting Group Awards
for 12 consecutive years

Since 2006, over 13,000 runners from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) have participated in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon (SCHKM). Today (Feb 12), over 2,200 HKU runners participated in various races of the SCHKM 2017. Amongst them, 90 have joined the Team for ten or more years including 79-year-old Mr Kwong Hung-piu who is the most senior member of the Team.
Education graduate Rachel Sproston is the Champion in Half Marathon (Women’s Master 2).
Established in 2006, the HKU Marathon Team was founded with the aim of promoting the sport of running and the spirit of the marathon – endurance and perseverance. For 12 consecutive years, the HKU Marathon Team has won the “Most Supportive Group Award” at the SCHKM, with over 13,000 HKU runners and 3,000 HKU volunteers.
