WeCare Fund for Student-Initiated Youth Suicide Prevention Project -
Best Practice Award Presentation Ceremony
06 Mar 2017
The WeCare Fund for Student-Initiated Youth Suicide Prevention Project is the very first cross-institutional student initiated suicide prevention project conducted by The Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (CSRP). The Fund aims to encourage post-secondary students to create, initiate and implement mental health related projects at university campuses with the support of professional advisors. Through the projects, the centre hopes to nurture positive emotions at campuses and to enhance awareness of mental health issues among youths. By December 2016, 14 projects had been successfully created and completed at 10 tertiary institutions. Among them, three outstanding projects have been selected as the champion, first and second runners-up. Additional funding will be offered to sustain and expand the projects. The prizes will be announced at the Best Practice Award Presentation Ceremony on March 9, 2017 (Thursday). The organiser will also present certificates to participating students to thank them for their effort in suicide prevention.
The WeCare Fund for Student-Initiated Youth Suicide Prevention Project is supported by Mr. Lau Ming Wai, Chairman of Commission on Youth. He has been invited as the guest of honor to present the awards and give his opinions on youth suicide prevention at the ceremony.
