Opening ceremony of extension of Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic
16 May 2017
The Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic (the Clinic), in the Faculty of Education (the Faculty), the University of Hong Kong was established along with the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences in 1988. The clinic provides a state-of-the-art facility for the clinical education of speech therapy and audiology students in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences’ degree programmes. Over 800 students have gained valuable experience in the clinic and become qualified speech therapists and audiologists. Clinical services have also been provided to over 5000 individuals in the community.
The Clinic is committed to providing evidence-based services to individuals with speech, language, communication, swallowing and hearing disorders. The Clinic provides diagnostic evaluation, individual and group therapy to individuals of all ages and accepts self- and professional referrals.
In 2016, financial support from the Faculty was provided to expand the facilities at the Kennedy Town Centre from one floor to two. This includes state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment that allows unobtrusive but high-quality recordings to enhance students’ clinical education as well as client service.
