Launch of HKU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub : iDendron
29 Oct 2017
The launch ceremony of iDendron, the HKU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub, was held on October 23 (Monday). iDendron, enabled by the Azalea (1972) Endowment Fund and supported by Sino Group and Stanley Chu, serves as a co-working space, event space, and collaborative community for our students, staff and alumni and partners.
iDendron will facilities the partnerships of entrepreneurs, innovators and pioneers with anchor programmes, such as DreamCatchers and Entrepreneurship Academy, and with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation, Cyberport, and Hong Kong X-Tech Startup Platform, among others.
Professor Andy Hor, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) of HKU; Dr Steve Cannon, Executive Vice-President of HKU; Mr Nicholas W. Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology; Mrs Fanny Law, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation and Member of the HKSAR Executive Council; and Mr Kai-Man Wong, Chairman of the Azalea (1972) Endowment Fund, officiated at the launch.
The opening of iDendron is the first step in nurturing an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit on campus. It also aims to engage and grow the entrepreneurship community so it may make an impact both on HKU and beyond, establish interdisciplinary co-operation on entrepreneurial initiatives, and support and incubate HKU early-stage startups. Twenty startup teams, led by HKU students and young alumni, have moved in and are working on their projects at iDendron
