HKU Faculty of Dentistry to hold “Smiley Action Day” in Sha Tin

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), in collaboration with charity group Project Concern Hong Kong, will hold a “ Smiley Action Day” in Sha Tin tomorrow (January 27, Saturday) to promote oral health and dental knowledge in society. The public can receive free oral examinations and dental treatment at three mobile dental vehicles on site.
Supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Project Concern Hong Kong aims to provide free dental treatment to people on a low-income.
The opening ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm on the event day. Professor Chu Chun-hung, Associate Dean (External Relations) of HKU Faculty of Dentistry; Ms Babe Chan Ying-yee, Executive Director of Project Concern Hong Kong; and Mr Wai Hing-cheung, Sha Tin District Councilor will officiate at the ceremony.

Venue: Shatin Town Hall Plaza
Activities:
- Free oral examinations and dental treatment
- Free preventive dental treatment for young children (including oral examination and topical fluoride therapy)
- Free oral consultation
- Games booths with prizes
The “Simley Action Day” was launched in 2015 offering outreach dental education and clinical services to the community. With active participation of the staff and students from HKU Faculty of Dentistry, and dental staff of Project Concern Hong Kong, this event has been held in 13 districts. The project is supported by the HKU Knowledge Exchange Fund and intends to help the community by applying knowledge learnt and research evidence generated at HKU.
