The University of Hong Kong deeply saddened by the passing of University Laureate Professor Jao Tsung-I

Professor Paul Tam, Acting President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong, has sent his deepest condolences and sympathy to Professor Jao Tsung-I’s family on behalf of the University. Professor Jao was HKU’s University Laureate (2014) and Doctor of Letters honoris causa (1982).
Professor Tam said: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of a great man. Professor Jao, HKU’s inaugural University Laureate, was a national treasure, an international literary giant, and a dear and most respected member of the HKU family. Professor Jao will remain forever part of the HKU legacy.”
