HKU “Around the World” Walking Challenge prize presentation Ceremony
14 Jun 2018
HKU organized the "Around the World" Walking Challenge, where over 1400 HKU members from 18 countries took part and 463,447,412 steps were completed in one month, which is virtually equivalent to 7 times around the world. The winning team finished with 7,519,319 steps in a month, while the individual who won amassed a staggering 1,579,437 steps.
The Walking Challenge was organized under the Exercise is Medicine® on Campus (EIM-OC) initiative managed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), in which HKU has been identified as a Gold Level Campus under EIM-OC Recognition Programme. The Programme highlights the steps individuals are taking in leading their campuses to become healthier through increased levels of physical activity. HKU is the first university in Hong Kong to be awarded this prestigious Gold Level Campus recognition.
Winners will share their experience at the prize presentation ceremony officiated by Dr. Michael Tse, Assistant Director of the Centre for Sports and Exercise and Chairman of HKU EIM-OC, together with members of the Senior Management Team.
