Students encouraged to pursue goals and dreams with scholarship
Winners of HSBC Hong Kong Scholarships 2017-18 meet the press
25 Jun 2018
One of the important features of university life is supporting students to discover their life goals and dreams. The University of Hong Kong offers more than 4,500 scholarships each year. Apart from recognizing students with outstanding academic achievements, many scholarships encourage students to find their dreams and life pursuits. One such example is the HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship Scheme which encourages local tertiary students to pursue their dreams and build a better Hong Kong. Twelve undergraduate students in HKU were awarded the HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship in the academic year 2017-18, at the value of HK$50,000 each.

She has been involved in a research regarding a critically endangered plant that is only found in Hong Kong and Vietnam. Even hopes to become an environmental educator and researcher.
Jessie Ho is a Year 3 student majoring in Biochemistry at HKU. She appeared to be a quiet girl when she was young, but in fact her mind was full of innovative ideas. Despite having limited resources, her mother encouraged her to explore the world and utilize her talents. Jessie is currently involved in gene editing platform research work under the HKU’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship Programme and aspires to become an expert in disease biology.
