HKU is delighted to see the Chief Executive, in her Policy Address, committed to the development of Innovation and Technology which will position Hong Kong as a regional hub of research and innovation and a new driver of the local economy. We are particularly glad to see the introduction of various new measures, including the investment in Research Endowment Fund to attract and retain talents and the establishment of a new Research Matching Grant Scheme for researchers in local universities. We welcome the allocation of more funding to the State Key Laboratories, Technology Transfer Office and other measures to promote scientific research and innovation activities of the University. Moreover, the increase in healthcare training places and upgrade of teaching facilities will help to further support HKU to provide quality education to students.
