Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong, is deeply saddened by the passing away of its distinguished alumnus, Dr the Hon Sir Sze-Yuen Chung.

Professor Zhang said: "On behalf of the University of Hong Kong, I would like to record our profound sorrow at the news of the passing of Sir S Y. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues who will all be mourning his loss.

Sir S Y will be remembered for his lifetime of contributions to the engineering, industrial and commercial sectors in Hong Kong, his outstanding public service in the government, and his leadership in the development of higher education.

At the University, we remain grateful for his belief in the endeavours of his alma mater, and are proud to count him as one of our most exemplary honorary graduates.”
