The University of Hong Kong is pleased to learn that the Hon. Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), has re-appointed Professor the Hon. Arthur K.C. Li as Chairman of the HKU Council for another term of three years from January 1, 2019.
The University also welcomes a new Council member Mr Jason Chiu, appointed by the Chancellor from January 1, 2019. Five other current members including Mr Edward Chow, Mr Daryl Ng, Dr Patrick Poon, Ms Vivien Chan and Dr Brian Stevenson have been re-appointed.
The President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Xiang Zhang welcomes Professor Li’s re-appointment. He said: “The University has been actively pursuing activities in line with its strategic vision, such as launching various capital projects, engagement with the Mainland and other parts of the world, and making endeavours to attract and nurture global scholars through excellence in research, teaching and learning, and knowledge exchange, just to name a few. Professor Li has provided great leadership in University governance. His continuity as the Council Chairman will be invaluable to the University in realising its vision in the coming years. I also welcome the re-appointments and the new appointment, and thank all these members for agreeing to help the University further its academic and research endeavours.”
Professor Li said that he is most happy and honoured to accept the re-appointment as Chairman of the HKU Council, and looks forward to continue working with the President and Vice-Chancellor, Council members, members of the Senior Management Team, staff, students, alumni and indeed the whole University community to jointly take the University to its next level of achievements.
