The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has appointed Mr Steve Lo as the new Executive Vice-President (EVP) (Administration and Finance), effective from August 17, 2020.
The appointment was approved by the University Council at its meeting today (July 28), following a global search for candidates.
The EVP provides strategic leadership and oversees the University’s fiscal and administrative operations encompassing finance and enterprises, facilities management, human resources, information technology services, healthcare and safety management, and other critical functions that support the University’s education, research and service missions.
Mr. Lo is a veteran business executive possessing significant commercial and general management experience. He was the Chief Executive Officer of Jardine OneSolution (JOS) Holdings when he left Jardine Matheson Group in 2014, after working with the group for over 30 years. His previous leadership experiences included the Sino Land Company Limited and the Chinachem Group.
Mr. Lo is an alumnus of the University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.
Professor Xiang Zhang, President and Vice-Chancellor, extended his warm welcome to Mr Lo on behalf of the University and said: “Mr. Lo will bring with him best practices in the corporate sector and an entrepreneurial outlook to upkeep a contemporary support infrastructure that backs the University in advancement of its high academic ambitions.”
