The Office of the Vice-President (Academic Development) organised the second workshop on September 29 related to climate change and carbon neutrality. Over 30 HKU professorial members from different disciplines engaged in a discussion to explore feasible research directions that can lead to the goal of carbon reduction.
“We are pleased to gather many great minds to discuss carbon science and technology. We hope that the HKU Climate Change initiative can provide a platform for the academia and thus encourage more studies on carbon neutrality-related topics. We need to play a leading role in climate change research and hope to raise funds from public and private agencies. We applaud colleagues’ contributions in the workshops, in particular their insights into how climate change research can be taken forward,” said Professor Peng GONG, HKU Vice-President (Academic Development).
HKU champions the notion of carbon reduction. The participation of HKU will become part of the strong effort to achieve net-zero carbon emission in China. The collaborative academic environment at HKU will also provide a conducive ground for scientists to find solutions.
