Inclusive employment is a multifaceted issue, and its promotion requires efforts beyond that of traditional stakeholders such as the government, philanthropic and social service sectors. In fact, self-help groups, social enterprises and interested parties are developing different models to facilitate the employment of people with disabilities (PWD). Collaboration amongst these stakeholders can create synergies, unlock more communal resources to facilitate inclusive employment of PWD.
In collaboration with four local NGOs – CareER, Heep Hong Society, SAHK, and St James Settlement, and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Centre for Civil Society and Governance (CCSG) of The University of Hong Kong (HKU) launches the Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment to raise stakeholders’ awareness and knowledge on inclusive employment, and inspire them to take action and become advocates for inclusive employment.
The Project will hold its inaugural seminar themed “Leverage Resources for Inclusive Employment for People with Disabilities” on November 6, 2021, during which keynote presentations and panel discussion will be given by various stakeholder representatives. Also, preliminary key findings from a community-wide survey on Hong Kong people's views towards inclusive employment of PWD will be released during the event.
