Recognising the resilience and perseverance of young athletes, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) has admitted eight emerging and outstanding Hong Kong athletes through the “Top Athletes Direct Admissions Scheme” this year.
The admitted athletes include badminton athlete Tse Ying Suet and table tennis athlete Lam Siu Hang, who have both represented Hong Kong in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Other admitted athletes include table tennis (para) athlete Wong Yue Ching Joelle, table tennis athlete Wong Hoi Tung, fencing athlete Ho Sze Long, triathlete Charlotte Emily Hall, rugby athlete Liam Martin Doherty, and athletics-long jump athlete Lin Mingfu. The eight athletes have all excelled in their respective sports and look forward to continuing academic achievement.
On February 21 (Tuesday), Professor Bennett Yim, Director of Undergraduate Admissions and International Student Exchange, and seven athletes (Wong Hoi Tung not able to attend) will meet with the media to discuss their future academic and athletic ambitions and thoughts towards their prospective enrolment at HKU.
