Six scholars from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) have been recognised as the 2023 AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar (Honorable Mention) for their exceptional contributions to artificial intelligence between 2013 and 2022.
The AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Annual List (https://aminer.cn/ai2000) acknowledges outstanding technical achievements with lasting contributions and impact in different domains of artificial intelligence while encouraging the recognition of young and active scholars. It aims to name 2,000 of the world's top-cited research scholars in the field over this decade (2020-2029). Each year, the top 10 scholars from each domain are named "AI 2000 Most Influential Scholars", while the top 11 - 100 scholars receive "AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Honourable Mentions".
The six esteemed HKU scholars who have received Honourable Mentions are:
Professor Cheng Chun Kong, Department of Computer Science, honoured for his research in Database. (Professor Cheng’s bio)
Professor Kaibin Huang, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, honoured for his work in the Internet of Things. (Professor Huang’s bio)
Professor Taku Komura, Department of Computer Science, recognized for his work in Computer Graphics. (Professor Komura’s bio)
Dr Qi Liu, Department of Computer Science, recognised for his contributions to AAAI/IJCAI. (Dr Liu’s bio)
Dr Ping Luo, Department of Computer Science, celebrated for his advancements in Computer Vision. (Dr Luo’s bio)

The 2023 winners are among the most-cited scholars from the top venues of their respective fields between 2013 and 2022. The citation count for each scholar in each domain is calculated, and the list is sorted accordingly to generate the rankings.
