The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host the 27th Annual Presidents’ Meeting of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) with the theme “From Invention to Implementation – Solutions for a Sustainable Future.” The Presidents and senior administrators from APRU member universities will gather together on HKU campus on June 26 and 27 to explore the state of the planet, from threats to opportunities.
During the two-day event, the Institute of Climate and Carbon Neutrality of HKU, the Department of Environment Science and Engineering of Fudan University (Fudan U) and the Office of Global & Research Engagement of the University of Sydney (U of Sydney) will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to join forces on sustainability and carbon neutrality initiatives, with the targets of formulating university-wide carbon neutrality targets and advancing research and educational programmes towards sustainability and carbon neutrality in the Asia Pacific region.
Professor Peng Gong, Vice-President (Academic Development) of HKU; Professor Lei Xu, Vice-President of Fudan U; and Professor Kathy Belov, Vice-President (Global and Research Engagement) of U of Sydney will represent the three parties in the signing ceremony held on June 26 (Monday).
