To promote the spirit of science and inspire a passion for science among contemporary Hong Kong youth, the Future Science Prize, Tencent Youth Development Committee, Tencent Foundation, the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and Hong Kong Academy of Sciences will jointly host the "Future Scientists" - Future Science Prize Award Winners Documentary Screening and the "Future Scientists: Unveiling the Mysteries of the Cosmos" event tomorrow (September 30, Saturday).
Over 200 "Co-creating Brilliance Teen" secondary school students and mentors will have the opportunity to learn about the real stories of scientists up close, converse with Professor Kwok-yung, Yuen, the 2021 Future Science Prize winner in Life Sciences, and participate in the "Future Scientists" Documentary Screening and interactive science games.
The "Co-creating Brilliance Teen" initiative is implemented by a cross-departmental action group led by the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Through collaboration among government, business, and civil sectors, the initiative aims to create a brighter future for young people, especially secondary school students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Mr. Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration, HKSAR Government, will attend the event to present certificates to the participants, and engage with the students during the science practical experience session.
Other honorary guests attending the event include Mr Gary Zhang Xinyu, member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council; Mr. James Li Tsz Shu, Tencent’s Vice President of Public Affairs and Tencent Foundation Executive Director; Professor Anderson Ho Cheung Shum, Associate Vice-President (Research and Innovation), HKU; Mr. Huang Mingming, member of Future Forum's Youth Council (Honorary) and Founder of Mingshi capital; and Mr. Andy Kong, Researcher at HKU’s Laboratory for Space Research (LSR) .
