Following is a brief statement by the Council of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) on the Panel set up to look into matters and issues emanating from a set of complaint emails received:
On October 9, the Council of HKU passed a resolution to set up a panel to look into matters and issues emanating from complaint emails received under the “Whistle-blowing” Policy and Procedures. The Panel will investigate matters and issues deemed appropriate, in accordance with the principles set out in the established procedures.
The Chairman of HKU’s Audit Committee, Hon. Jimmy Ng Wing-ka, was appointed as the Chairman of the Panel. Other members are Dr. Brian Stevenson and Mr. Jason Chiu. The Council of HKU held a meeting today (November 6) and appointed two non-Council members, Mr. Richard Khaw SC and Dr. David Sun, to be members of the Panel.
The Panel will look into the allegations fairly and impartially and will reach their findings through evidence-based investigation in an unbiased manner to ensure that the conclusion is fair.
