The University of Hong Kong (HKU) ranks second in Asia in the latest QS Asia University Rankings for 2024. The result has been announced by the global higher education analytic organisation Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) today (November 8).
Rising two spots from last year, HKU now stands in the highest echelons of Asian academia. In local rankings, HKU continues to maintain its premier position.
With an unwavering commitment to becoming a world-class university in Asia, HKU has consistently provided students with a top-notch education. As a trailblazer in the region, the University continually strives for excellence in teaching, research, and knowledge exchange, all the while bolstering its global reputation, and supporting the Chief Executive's recent blueprint set forth in the Policy Address, which aims to transform Hong Kong into an international education hub.
HKU has proactively recruited distinguished scholars and talented young researchers from around the globe. This year alone, the University welcomed over 90 scholars, who will contribute to teaching and research across a wide array of fields.
The QS Asia University Rankings are released annually, highlighting the top universities in Asia. The 2024 rankings were determined based on 11 critical indicators, encompassing academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty student ratio, international research network, citations per paper and papers per faculty, staff with PhD, international faculty ratio and international student ratio, inbound and outbound exchange student ratios.
