The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host the grand finale of the 2023 HKU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Challenge on December 16 (Saturday).
Themed 'Knowledge Transfer for Triple Helix Innovation', the Challenge marks the first-ever nationwide start-up competition held by HKU. It seeks to nurture technological exchange and collaboration among industry, academia, research institutions, and start-ups from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and beyond.
The Challenge covers seven specialised fields: artificial intelligence, information technology, biomedical treatment, energy conservation & environmental protection, culture and creativity, mass consumption, and intelligent manufacturing.
Nineteen top projects, selected from more than 230 innovative projects returned by six competition zones including Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Chengdu, will compete in the finale. The project leaders will present their innovative ideas and business plans to an esteemed panel of adjudicators comprising global experts and investors during the whole day event.
Professor Peng Gong, Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic Development), and Professor Ning Rong Liu, Associate Vice-President and Founding Director of HKU ICB, will address the participants at the opening ceremony.
