The HKU Research Hub of Population Studies (‘Hub’) of The University of Hong Kong will organise a seminar entitled “Taking the Pulse of Housing in Hong Kong: How Demographic Shifts Impact Housing Demands” on July 17 (Wednesday).
This seminar will feature a presentation delivered by Mr. Ryan Ip, Vice President cum Co-Head of Research, Our Hong Kong Foundation. Dr. Stephen Wong, Head of Chief Executive’s Policy Unit, HKSAR Government, will join as a discussant to share his invaluable insights on the subject. Moderated by Professor Eric Fong, Director of the Hub, the first half of the seminar will be conducted in English, while the open floor discussion will be bilingual, conducted in both English and Cantonese.
Discussions will cover topics ranging from how shifts in population trends, including aging, low birth rate and importation of foreign talents, affect housing demands, to the future supply of public and private housing, recent property market dynamics – particularly after the relaxation of the spicy measures – and beyond.
