In the year 2024, the global economy faces a series of uncertainties. China, the world’s second-largest economy, continues to be a key contributor to global growth of economy as the country ushers in a new chapter of new quality productive forces and high-quality development. What kind of changes will the Third Plenary Session of the CCP’s 20th National Congress bring to China’s economic and financial development?
Addressing China’s economic development in the midst of the ever-changing global landscape, HKU Business School and Institute of China Economy (ICE), in collaboration with China Macroeconomy Forum (CMF) of the Renmin University of China, is hosting the “2024 China and Global Economic Forum – China's Power and New Chapter of Global Economy: Development and Outlook” on 20 July 2024 (Saturday) at Rayson Huang Theatre, The University of Hong Kong. The forum is co-organised by Hong Kong Alumni Association of Renmin University of China.
Heavyweight economists are invited to analyse the implications of the Third Plenary Session. Renowned industry leaders will also share insights on hot topics and latest trends in China and global economic development, in addition to the release of the CMF China Macroeconomy Analysis and Forecast Report for mid-2024 and the ICE China Economy Report. Two roundtable discussions will also be conducted, centering at the analysis on current China’s macroeconomic situation, and the challenges and prospects facing macro and micro finance in Mainland China and Hong Kong.
HKU Business School established the ICE in 2022, with the vision to foster research on the Chinese economy, by bringing together great minds and insights around the world to address critical challenges facing China and the world. The ICE scholars provide world-leading research on the Chinese Economy. They are also experienced in serving the community by offering evidence-based policy and business insights to the scientific decisions of policymakers and business leaders.
