The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has launched a two-day Government Career Expo on campus, providing students with a unique platform to explore diverse career paths within the HKSAR Government and enhance their employability in the Civil Service sector.
The HKU 2023 Bachelor’s Degree Graduate Survey revealed that 14.4% of graduates joined the Civil Service sector for employment.
Organised by the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) in collaboration with the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), the Expo features a Government Career Fair with representatives from 29 government bureaux and departments. The event showcases over 70 job-function openings across various units, including roles such as Administrative Officer, Executive Officer II, Statistician, Landscape Architect, Town Planner, Engineering Graduates, Chemist, Legal Aid Counsel, Education Officer (Administration), and Assistant Curator II (Art) (covering Art, Film, Science, Conservation, and History Work Types), Probationary Inspector, Inspector of Customs and Excise, multiple positions under the Disciplined Services, and more. The event offers students valuable insights into a wide range of government careers.
The Expo also includes essential training sessions, such as Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) Workshop and Basic Law and National Security Law Talk, designed to prepare students for government civil service examinations.
