Global trade and supply chains have encountered unprecedented pressures amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions, the COVID-19 outbreak, and increasing stakeholder interests in sustainability. In light of these, HKU Business School is honoured to invite Professor Hau LEE, one of the world's leading experts in supply chain management, to give a keynote speech under the theme of “Navigating Shifts - Geopolitical and Post-Covid Supply Chain Realignment: Implications for the Mainland and Hong Kong” for the Edward K Y Chen Distinguished Lecture 2024. He will outline three major challenges that confront corporations in this turbulent time, and share views on how the Mainland and Hong Kong could formulate strategies and leverage technological innovations to optimise business models, thus enhancing their competitiveness and bringing huge development opportunities to the industry.
Professor LEE is the Thoma Professor Emeritus of Operations, Information and Technology at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. He is also the Founder of the Stanford University Global Supply Chain Management Forum, and the Faculty Advisor for the Stanford Institute for Innovations in Developing Economies. His areas of specialization include supply chain management, information technology, global logistics, system design, inventory planning, and strategic planning for manufacturing companies. He is the Founder and Co-Director of the Stanford Value Chain Innovation Initiative, as well as the originator of the “Supply Chain Framework”, “The Bullwhip Effect” and “The Triple-A Supply Chain”. In February 2010, Professor LEE was appointed as a Fellow of the US National Academy of Engineering for his outstanding contributions to the field of supply chain design and management.
