Latest E-business Developments & Technologies to be discussed in HK at the Second Int

Over 80 leading experts from the academic, business, technology and government sectors worldwide will assemble in Hong Kong to share their insights on the newest e-business developments and technologies at the Second International Symposium on Electronic Commerce (ISEC), to be held from April 26 to 28 at the Hong Kong Productivity Council Building, Kowloon Tong.
Organized by the E-Business Technology Institute (ETI) of The University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Symposium is composed of a series of keynote and plenary speeches by renowned experts, presentations of referred papers, tutorials and workshops covering the hottest e-commerce topics, including:
‧latest models of e-business deployment in the business and public sectors
‧electronic marketplace
‧cryptography, security and secure payment
‧intelligent web agents
‧data exchange, enterprise data mining and customer relationship management
‧e-commerce education
‧e-commerce architecture and solutions
‧performance and quality of service (QoS)
Professor C J Tan, director of ETI, said, "ISEC is a major annual event for researchers, software vendors, application developers and business users all over the world to share information about current important research and application issues concerning electronic business. We are proud to host this event to facilitate the exchange of insights among world leaders in their respective fields. We are also excited at exposing the local academic, industry and business communities to the forefront of e-commerce technologies and applications."
Keynote and plenary speakers of the Symposium include Tony Tai, marketing director of IBM Greater China Group, Peter Ferguson, director of Electronic Commerce Branch, Industry Canada, Dr Carolyn H Norton, member of IBM Academy, Joseph Poon, founder and CEO of SAR1 Innovations Ltd., and Dr Leo Liu, senior manager of IBM's Data Warehouse Development, Customer Information Engine.
The event is sponsored by IBM China/Hong Kong Limited, IBM Center for Advanced Studies, Hong Kong Productivity Council and SAR1 Innovations Ltd. E-Business Technology Institute, which was set up by The University of Hong Kong and IBM China/ Hong Kong Limited in September 1999, is an independently funded research and development institute within the university. It aims to foster the overall development of Hong Kong and China in the networked economy through basic research in e-business technology and policy issues, development of e-business applications that cater to specific requirements of Hong Kong and China, transfer of technologies and building up of a pool of local e-business technology professionals.
