The recipients of the Honorary University Fellowships will be:
Mr Darwin Chen, who has been active in promoting culture and the arts in Hong Kong for almost 40 years. He has enjoyed a distinguished 32 years career as a senior government official serving as Director of Cultural Services, Commissioner of Television and Entertainment Licensing, Deputy Secretary for Constitutional Affairs and Commissioner for Labour and Director of Buildings and Lands.
Mr Leo Goodstadt was the Government's Chief Policy Advisor from 1989 to 1997. As the first Head of its Central Policy Unit he was responsible for strategies dealing with a range of complex economic, political and social issues. He has served as honorary lecturer in the Faculty of Law at HKU and authored a number of books on economic and political trends in Hong Kong and China.
Ms Ann Hui, an alumna of HKU, is one of Hong Kong's foremost and most influential filmmakers. Her films, spanning 20 years, have won countless international awards. She is perhaps best known for her 1995 masterpiece Summer Snow which she both produced and directed. The film swept the boards at both the Golden Horse and the Hong Kong Film Awards.
Mr Kwok Sau Po is founder of the Golden Electric Trading Corporation and is currently Chairman of its Board of Directors and CEO. He is a dedicated and much-admired philanthropist having made generous donations towards the building of schools, hospitals, old age homes and nurseries. He has also donated more than one hundred Chinese treasures to museums in China and Hong Kong.
Dr Leong Che Hung is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at HKU where he served consecutively as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Reader in the Department of Surgery from 1966 to 1978. He has made lasting contributions to Hong Kong, serving as a member of the Legislative Council. He played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine of which he is currently President.
Mr Jack So is Chairman of the MTR Corporation and President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He began his career with the Hong Kong government and joined the private sector in 1978. He has been a Council member at HKU since December 2000 and is also Chairman of the Steering Committee of the HKU Impact Study.
Lady Ivy Wu has played an active role in community service in Hong Kong for more than 20 years. She has served as chairman, or member, of the advisory boards of numerous charitable organizations. In 1993 the Mrs Ivy Wu Fellowship for the People's Republic of China Academics was launched to sponsor 43 mainland academics to undertake specialist training at the Faculty of Medicine of HKU.
The Honorary University Fellowships were created in 1995 as a mark of the distinction and esteem with which the recipients are held by the University and to better relationships with the community at large.
The presentation ceremony will be held at 6.00pm on Thursday, December 13, 2001 in Rayson Huang Theatre on the University's main estate. Members of the press are cordially invited to attend.
HKU to Present Honorary University Fellowships to Seven Distinguished People

Seven outstanding individuals will receive the Honorary University Fellowship on December 13, 2001. The Fellowships will be presented by Dr David Li, Pro-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), immediately after the meeting of the University Court.
