Exhibitions and Demonstration of Oil Paintings at University Museum and Art Gallery
05 Feb 2004
From this Saturday, February 7, the University Museum and Art Gallery will be simultaneously showing two exhibitions. In the University's Fung Ping Shan Building, the exhibition "Brilliant Tranquility: Paintings by Szeto Lap" will feature over twenty pieces of the Paris-based artist Szeto Lap's work in charcoal and oil. Another exhibition "A Shared Space: Figure Paintings by Yin Xiong, Cui Xiaodong and He Hongzhou" will be held in the TT Tsui Building. It features the work of the three artists who are graduates of Hangzhou's prestigious China Academy of Art where they studied oil painting, and where Cui Xiaodong and He Hongzhou remain as teachers. The focus of the exhibition is the human figure which the artists have rendered using the techniques of realism. Over thirty works will be on view.
The two exhibitions will be opened by Professor Jiao Xiaojian, Director of the Creation and Research Institute, China Academy of Art, Mr Serge Mostura, Consul-General of France in Hong Kong, and Professor Lee Chack-fun, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of HKU. The four artists will be present:
