Entitled "Role of Mechanics, Material Science & Engineering Simulation in Bone and Joint Functional Analysis, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation", the lecture will take place at 6 pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at Lecture Theatre A, Chow Yei Ching Building, the University of Hong Kong.
In his lecture, Professor Chao will share with us the major achievements of musculoskeletal biomechanics in the past two decades and their practical applications.
Professor Chao is the Riley Chair in Orthopaedic Surgery while holding joint appointment as Professor in Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA. He has 30 years of active research experience with extensive interaction with medical device industry and a strong commitment to teaching.
Professor Chao has received a number of prestigious awards for his research and teaching and was endowed an Honorary Doctoral Degree from the University of Rennes, France in 1989. He has published more than 300 refereed journal papers, 175 book chapters and proceeding articles, and five books.

The latest in the series of William Mong Distinguished Lectures 2004 will feature Professor Edmund Y S Chao from the Johns Hopkins University.
