The Shaw Laureate in Life Science and Medicine 2005, Professor Sir Michael Berridge, will deliver a lecture at the University of Hong Kong on September 5, 2005. HKU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lap-Chee Tsui will give a welcome speech, followed by an introduction of Sir Michael by Professor T.W. Wong also from the Physiology discipline.
Sir Michael will speak on "Calcium Signalling in Health and Disease" about his discovery of calcium-mediated signalling pathways in the regulation of cellular function.

Venue: Cheung Kung Hai Conference Centre, William M W Mong Block, 21 Sassoon Road, Hong Kong
The Shaw Prize consists of three annual prizes: Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences. The Presentation Ceremony will be held on September 2, 2005
Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the lecture. A shuttle bus (KV605) has been arranged to pick up press members from Admiralty. Members of the press please wait at the bus stop near Café de Coral of Admiralty Centre (Exit A of the Admiralty MTR station). The bus will leave at 5pm sharp.
