Dubbed "Queen of the 'Net'" for her work on the evolution of the Internet and named by TIME.com as a cyber elite, Mary Meeker is the Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and serves as co-leader of the Firm's global technology research team. She was an early and consistent believer in opportunities related to the development of the Internet. She is co-author of various industry defining books including The Internet Report (1995), The Internet Advertising Report (1996) and the China Internet Report (2004) and the Technology IPO Yearbook.
The Faculty of Engineering is one of the founding faculties of the University when it was established in 1911. The faculty is dedicated to academic research of the highest quality and to provide a first rate education to young engineers. This Distinguished Lecture is one of its on-going efforts to contribute to Hong Kong's developments in a knowledge-based global economy.

With the help of modern technology, HKU Faculty of Engineering is proud to co-host a 3-site Distinguished Lecture entitled "Conversation with Mary Meeker: Global and China Internet Trends & Analysis" with Shantou University and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in Shanghai on 7th November 2005 at HKU with Dr. Paul Cheung, HKU's Program Director of the MSc in E-commerce and Internet Computing as the Master of Ceremony at HKU. In the lecture, Mary Meeker will share with us her insights on the global trends in Internet, China's online future as well as what it takes to be a good analyst.
