HKU Libraries to Host the Fifth Conference of Chinese Resources Cooperation and Development

The University of Hong Kong Libraries (HKUL) is playing host to the Fifth Conference of Chinese Resources Cooperation and Development on 10-11 November 2005 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The first day (10 November 2005) of the Conference will be held in Council Chamber, 8/F, Meng Wah Complex, University of Hong Kong, Pokfulam Road, and the second day (11 November 2005) in Lecture Theatre, Hong Kong Central Library, Causeway Road, Causeway Bay.
The objectives of the conference are to enhancing the development of Chinese resources and promoting the cooperation amongst different Chinese libraries worldwide. It also serves as a forum for participants to share experiences and initiate collaborative projects. Past conferences have been held in Beijing (2000), Taipei (2001), Macau (2002) and Nanjing (2004).
With the main objectives to foster interlibrary collaboration, the Conference will bring together representatives from the largest public and academic libraries concerned with Chinese materials from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and other parts of the world. Leaders of the 11 collaborative projects will be giving progress reports on a wide range of topics, such as Chinese Genealogies Union Catalogue, Chinese Name Authority Control, Union Catalogue of Chinese Rare Books and Sun Yat-Sen Digital Library.
Working language of the conference is Putonghua.
