HKU Promotes Sustainability 3rd Inter-school Solar Model Car Grand Prix

To promote the awareness of renewable energy and recycling of materials, HKU Centre Of Renewable Energy, Hong Kong PV Consortium and Kei Wai (Ma Wan) Primary School are co-organizing the "Inter-School Solar Model Car Grand Prix" on 3rd December 2005.
It is an annual event as part of HKU's ongoing effort to promote sustainability and use of renewable energy. Students are invited to form teams of up to three to create a solar car out of recycled packaging and a small solar kit. There will be two competitions, one for primary school and one for secondary school. A total of 178 teams from 47 schools have been registered to enter the competition this year. About 500 students are expected in the event.

CCC Kei Wai (Ma Wan) Primary School is the first school in Hong Kong that utilizes solar energy extensively. It gained almost 10% of its electricity consumption from photovoltaic during the last academic year. For details please visit http://www.kwmwps.edu.hk/.
