More than one hundred students from various departments will be recognised of their excellence in their chosen fields of architecture, business, design, engineering, information technology and computing, law, leadership, literature, music, photography, research, science, speech and debating, and sports. Awards won by students in the past year include the 5th HSBC Young IT Entrepreneur Awards, L'Oreal e-Strat Challenge 6, as well as the Fulbright Hong Kong Junior Research Award 2006. It is worth noting that our students have won a number of interesting awards. The RNSA Highly Commendable Paper Award presented to Tsang Hing Ho (PhD student of Department of Civil Engineering) by the University of Western Australia for his development of new strategies for seismic hazard and risk assessment in areas that remain unprepared for earthquake. Brian Hui (student of Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering) won the Dare To Be Digital Computer Competition with an innovative design and sound business plan.
Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, HKU Vice-Chancellor, will present the Certificates of Commendation to the awarded students at a ceremony to be held at the Sun Yat-sen Place of HKU, at 11:00am, on Saturday, April 29, 2006.

HKU Celebrates Students' Achievements in External Competitions

Students of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) who have achieved pleasing results at international, regional and local competitions during the academic year of 2005 – 06 are to be awarded for their efforts at a ceremony in their honour on Saturday (April 29, 2006).
