Trading between the two regions has been going on for more than 150 years. At this time not only trade but also, as a consequence of trade, consular relations were established.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of consular relations between Hong Kong and German states, The University of Hong Kong and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hong Kong are hosts to a distinguished lecture entitled "150th Anniversary of Consular Relations between Hong Kong and German States".
The talk will be delivered by Dr. Bert Becker, Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of History, School of Humanities, The University of Hong Kong. In this presentation, Dr. Becker will share with the audience his research on the history of the German Consulate-General in Hong Kong, revealing interesting facts not known to everyone.
Welcoming addresses will be given by Mr. Frank Burbach, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hong Kong, and Dr. M. Mora, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts of The University of Hong Kong.
