Acclaimed Poet Rita Dove to Read at HKU

Internationally celebrated poet Rita Dove will read a selection of her poems at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) tomorrow on 17 October 2006.

Dove will be speaker of this year's Edmund Blunden Lecture entitled "Poet at the Dance: A Reading with Commentary" and presented by HKU School of English. She was poet laureate of the United States from 1993-1995 and of the Commonwealth of Virginia from 2004-2006. She was also winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry in 1987. Her most recent work includes the play "The Darker Face of the Earth", which premiered in 1996 and ran in theatres from Washington D.C. to the Royal National Theatre in London, and her latest poetry collection, "American Smooth", published in 2004.
