Descendants of Mr. Shum Wai Yau donate HK$2 Million to HKU Journalism and Media Studies Centre

Descendants of Mr. Shum Wai Yau, founder of the historic Wah Kiu Yat Po newspaper, have donated HK$ 2 million to the Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) to create two scholarships.
A ceremony will be held Thursday, May 31, at 4:00 pm at University Lodge, Number 1, University Drive.
The donation enables creation of the Shum Wai Yuen Journalism Education Fund and the Lee Kam Woon and Shum Shuk Yuen Education Fund to encourage outstanding students and journalists to study at the JMSC.
Professor C F Lee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of HKU, will deliver a welcoming speech at the ceremony. Donors, including Mr. Shum Choi Sang, Mrs. Lee Shum Shuk Yuen and Mr. Lee Kam Woon, will attend.
